Block Days 2-1 and 2-2

We watched Change fhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifor a Dollar on YouTube and wrote in our JOURNALS about the idea of first impressions and judging someone by the way they "look".

We wear Fashion Police from the Upfront Magazine dated 12-12-11. We connected the story to the video (judging appearance).

We discussed being critical readers when reading NONFICTION.

READING FOR INFORMATION...checklist for success
Note the Title and Images included
Note the Author's Name (note gender and ethnicity)
Ask Yourself...
What is the purpose?
For what audience was this meant?
Read between the lines...
What is the THESIS
Ask Yourself...
Was anything omitted?
Is there evidence of bias?

We DEBATED: (Take a position) Should there be a law forcing food manufacturers to alert customers to changes in packaging? What would be the benefits and drawbacks of such legislation? Based on the article Hey, Who Shrank My Doritos? from the 10-3-11 Upfront Magazine.
