Monday 12-14-15

Today I announced the CANVAS page for Semester 2 is PUBLISHED.
 Intersession assignment due 1-15-16...ROUGH DRAFT of Personal Narrative.

Bring to class day 1....Rough draft and rubric...we will have a peer editing session

Bring to class ALL papers from Semester 1...we will transfer some to the class portfolio, recycle some, and keep some.

Class discussion will begin with BNW. We will start Macbeth mid-month.

A Macbeth reading guide will be posted by Jan 5th if you wish to read ahead.

Today in class final exam essay.

Friday 12-11

Today papers were passed back and Vocab 7-8 quiz was taken.

A new upfront magazine was distributed. Block 3 had a chance to read the cover story "Locked Away" and Block 6 started "Superbugs"

We looked for:
Thesis Statement
Author's Main Point and How the author made/supported main point?
Looked for bias
Then formed an opinion...agree or disagree and why.

Thursday

We will finish presentations and go back to the WC and Vocab from Block Day with the time that remains.

Friday: Vocabulary Quiz 7-8

Presentations filled the rest of the block

Extra time was spent on Vocabulary Book pages 118-119 (blocks 5 and 6) and WC pages 534-535 ... those will be corrected on Thursday

Monday 12-7-15

Today Blocks 3-4-5 Completed and Corrected Vocabulary Lesson 9 Choosing the Right Word 1-10. Block 6 also completed lesson 8.

WC Unit 12 corrections were turned in as well as Writing Contest Paperwork (optional)

We had group presentations and papers were returned between presentations.

NOTE: During the library time on Block Days ... Students AT SCHOOL completed a writing assignment...a prompt for a writing contest. All students were given the rubric today. EVERYONE needs to bring back the rubric signed or signed with a NO THANKS on it. If a student is selected as a finalist or winner in March, they will be notified with details about the awards ceremony based off the information provided on the form. Students who have not completed the assignment MAY do it, but are not required.

BLOCK DAY/SOPHOMORE RETREAT DAYS

Class will meet in the library. I will be at retreat Wed. but in class Thurs.

In class we have a writing assignment that is to be completed while in the library. There will be time to work on the GRAMMAR FLIP assignments that are due 12-3.
