THEN we watched more of the Ted K. Video

THEN we took the Summer Reading Test

Tuesday 9-27-16

Today we completed and corrected VOCABULARY LESSON 4 - Completing the Sentences 1-10

We discussed paper revisions...all papers have been looked at as of AFTER SCHOOL.
Please look at comments - some people need to bring a draft to tutoring time.
IMPORTANT FIXES NEEDED -  this is a paper about INNOVATION blending with TRADITION ... not evolution or change over time. Make sure the KEY words are in the intro/thesis and reiterated in conclusion.

We watched part of Ted. K's video about Morrie...Lessons on Life...will finish BLOCK DAY then take Summer Reading Test.

Block Days we LOOKED CLOSE at Thesis Statements:
  • We started by investigating page 1 of the THESIS HANDOUT
  • We practiced writing a thesis statement to answer the prompt: Which character do you believed changed the most in TWM, Mitch or Morrie? Support your answer with 3 examples from the text.
  • We looked at Wall Street journal articles and found thesis statements in the articles.
  • We concluded by completing the character chart - listing changes throughout the story for our Dynamic Round Characters: Mitch and Morrie
  •

  • Completed and Corrected Vocabulary Lesson 2 page 31
  • Discussed MAUS and BNW Study guide due dates posted (Otc. 10, 17 and Nov. 14)on CANVAS and the need to chuck assignments into small sections.

Vocabulary Stories were turned in to the bin and "stray" papers were collected (Syllabus signed, Upfront $, Kleenex, and Binder Check)

Blocks 1 and 3 started discussing Characterization from Tuesdays with Morrie

Welcome Back from a THREE DAY WEEKEND!



Today in class we:
1. Completed and corrected Vocabulary Lesson 1 Choosing the RightWord
2. Turned in supplies - if not turned in today...bring during my tutoring time before school tomorrow, Wednesday 9-7-16.
3. Started talking about CHARACTERIZATION...TOOK NOTES ON DYNAMIC, STATIC, FLAT, AND ROUND character types.
 4. Wrote down due dates for next two weeks

NOTE: I will be at St. Vincent de Paul tomorrow

BONUS: email me by 8 pm 9-6-16 with the title and name of the artist who made the picture.

Friday 9-2-16

Congrats...we had a GREAT FIRST WEEK!



Today EVERYONE WILL:
1. Discuss St. Vincent de Paul Assignment and Vocabulary Story Assignments and Warwick's Bonus
2. Volunteer for "Note taker" job in each block
3. Turn in signed syllabus, Upfront $, and Kleenex if not already handed in to me
4. Put name on Summer Project if needed...I have a few not graded as they are currently "He Who Will Not Be Named"

Getting Us Back on The Same Page:
  • Blocks 4 and 6 will correct Vocabulary that was not corrected on Block Day and will turn in Where I am From STAPLED to rubric and discuss UPFRONT
  • Block 1 will correct Vocabulary that was not corrected on Block Day and will discuss UPFRONT.
  • Blocks 3 and 5 will correct Vocabulary that was not corrected on Block Day and will discuss UPFRONT. Both blocks will write names on CARDS.

Block Days 8/30 and 9/1 ... 9/7 and 9/8

I missed Blocks 3 and 5 today for a Rotary Interact Event and will miss Blocks 4 and 6 on September 7th for St. Vincent de Paul...the classes will all be in a different place for the 2 block days ... they will be on the same page by the conclusion of next week. 

Each block will be customized due to my absence.
