We will complete and correct grammar WS review 6-15 as well as correct vocabulary book pages 118-119.

We will discuss The Lottery and BNW regarding the RHETORICAL TRIANGLE ...ETHOS/PATHOS/LOGOS
  • We will address the characters that ETHICALLY challenge the system and the LOGOS/Logical response given for why the system is the way it is
  • We will look at Traditions in The Lottery as well as discuss cultural context/setting
  • We will continue to look at author's word choice/tone

  1. Monday we started by discussing upcoming assignments prior to Thanksgiving. Today's class marks 25 school days till Final Exams.
  2. We corrected the Grammar pages assigned to be completed after the Vocabulary Quiz on Friday ... 187-189
  3. We read the Upfront Article about Mining Cobalt and noted THESIS and Support. We discussed connection between this activity and Semester 2 Writing Exam.
  4. Papers were returned

Tuesday:
  • Students are to come to class with a hard copy of PAPER 2 rough draft (+RUBRIC) they uploaded Monday night to turnitin.com via Canvas. We will have a writers workshop in class.
  • Remaining papers will be passed back

We discussed Frankenstein as a NESTED NARRATIVE/FRAMED NARRATIVE ... a story within a story within a story

We discussed the  book as an analogy to GOD/ADAM and Creation as well as a "feminist feat" as it may parallel the author's loss of her mother at a young age (the role of the female figure in the family/lack of her presence in novel). We mentioned the "modern Prometheus Myth" analogy as well.
