Monday Library Project

Monday we'll get practice working with the SAHS library resources for research...yes, practice on quotations and punctuation.

The Vocabulary Story lesson 6 will be collected. In class the project below will be completed.

Your Task Involves:
Visit the SAHS homepage and follow the STUDENTS tab
Go to Library Media Center and click on Student Resources
Use BOTH ProQuest and CQ Researcher for this assignment (Note passwords on the papers posted by the computers...write them down so you can use them at home!)
Visit The Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL) for MLA formatting assistance

What will you do today - before class time ends...
STEP 1:
Research in BOTH ProQuest and CQ Researcher ONE of the following individuals. You are looking for articles that give insight into why the individual you are researching was courageous.

STEP 2: Print out and active read each article. Your FOCUS: Character traits of the person you are researching that helped him or helped her act with courage.
Keep in mind the definition of courage. According to www.Dictionary.com, courage is “the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.”
Look at Yad Vashem’s website to see the criteria they use for declaring someone, like all the people on this list, Righteous Among Nations. (http://www1.yadvashem.org/yv/en/righteous/index.asp)

STEP 3: Create works cited page to assist you with the step for tomorrow in class....
Go to the Purdue University OWL
Find the link on the left column for Works Cited: Citing An Electronic Resource
Scroll down to An Article from An Online Database … use this guideline to create a citation for EACH source. ALL works cited pages are in ABC order.
