Block Day
Tuesday and Block Day we worked on how to integrate IN-TEXT citations into our writing and worked on creating a Works Cited page according to MLA FORMAT. We used the articles we gathered in the library last Monday 11-5-12. The Purdue OWL site was the template we used (linked in the helpful links on the blog's right hand column).
Papers were passed back.
We also reviewed for the Vocabulary Quiz ... page 71 in the Vocabulary Book as well as evens for "Completing the Sentences" and odds for "Choosing the Right Word".

Tuesday 11-13-12 ... details for now till Thanksgiving...
Today in class we'll work on the articles printed in the library a week ago ... we'll create a thesis statement and integrate the words from the article into our voice ... practicing MLA FORMAT. We'll use the Purdue University OWL site as our guide.
The final installment of Brave New World is due in class today.

Friday 11-2 Brave New World Discussion
We completed Grammar Book page 7575 #s 6-10
We then discussed the concept of HOW and WHY the World State was created the way it was...the UTOPIA was designed with the "ideal population like an iceberg...1/9th above the water line and 8/9ths below it". We discussed the idea of the caste system and how people were created to be more or less intelligent than another.
I posed the question...what if all the Alphas...the 1/9th, were placed on an island together? We discussed this...the book will also in later chapters...
