Block 4 completed presentations and began to delve into the RATIONALE behind how the World State was made...looking first at page 223 ... population based on ICEBERG.

All blocks began where Block 4 was on Friday and also looked deeper at what MOND's plan was to create the "utopia"
Page 220 includes a passage discussing what was eliminated from the world...lists items that cause man vs self and man vs man conflicts...to create STABILITY

We discussed/took notes on  STORY OF AN HOUR ... tone, mood, setting,  key details, irony, and looked back at foreshadowing

FRIDAY - Completed and Corrected Vocabulary Lesson 5 Synonyms and Antonyms (did not get to due to short classes/Hall of Fame Rally)
Writer's Workshop...we discussed PREPOSITIONAL PHRASES (WC 519-520) and looked for how we used prepositions and prepositional phrases in VOCAB STORY 1-2-3. We made revisions to our story to make it less wordy or to avoid prepositions at the end of sentences.

  • We concluded by completing the character chart - listing changes throughout the story for our Dynamic Round Characters: Mitch and Morrie

4. Put name on Summer Project if needed...I have a few not graded as they are currently "He Who Will Not Be Named"

Getting Us Back on The Same Page:
  • Blocks 4 and 6 will correct Vocabulary that was not corrected on Block Day and will turn in Where I am From STAPLED to rubric and discuss UPFRONT
  • Block 1 will correct Vocabulary that was not corrected on Block Day and will discuss UPFRONT.
  • Blocks 3 and 5 will correct Vocabulary that was not corrected on Block Day and will discuss UPFRONT. Both blocks will write names on CARDS.

Welcome to English 2 for the 2016-2017 Academic Year

The first few days of school we are going through the syllabus and class procedures.

We will discuss:
  • Supplies needed for the class
  • Bringing work to class printed and ready
  • Having hard copies of books at all times
  • Computer/cell phone policy
  • Signing up for St. Vincent de Paul 
  • Signing up an official note taker for each block
  • Vocabulary Books will be used BLOCK DAY...make a copy of a friend's lesson 1 if you do not have it yet.
