Starting Tuesday 4-16, and the rest of the Tuesdays in the month of APRIL, we'll work on the EXPOSITORY PAPER assignment in class. The final draft is due UPLOADED to turnitin.com by 11:59 PM May 2, 2013. The rubric needs to be brought to class Friday 5-3-13.
The rubric/instructions are on the PAPERS page of the class website. The document is titled 1213EXpositoryPaper.
GOALS for completing the project...sooner than a minute before the deadline:
TUESDAY 4-16:
Read assignment instructions prior to coming to class on Tuesday 4-16. Come to class with a topic or two in mind.
Pick a topic while in class
Research and find articles on ProQuest or CQ Researcher (a credible website is OK if you cannot find enough articles).
During the week read the articles to make sure they are what you need. Find new ones if needed.
Create and outline and THESIS STATEMENT and bring to class Tuesday 4-23
Tuesday 4-23:
In class work on developing your rough draft with a catchy hook and proper in-text citations. Work on your Works Cited page simultaneously. As you use a source, add it to the Works Cited page.
Remember Purdue's OWL is a great resource for MLA format. The link is on the Blog's list of Helpful Links.
During the week...finish the rough draft
Tuesday 4-30:
In-class have a peer read your paper to make sure it makes sense...make sure you did not leave out anything by Typing and Thinking at different rates!
Make changes as suggested.
During the week: finish edits, proofread, etc. Submit.
