Finishing August
We'll continue to discuss class procedures and items from teh syllabus both Thursday and Friday
We'll start to discuss the concept of Dynamic and Static, Flat and Round Characters in our summer reading literature.
The PASSWORD and CLASS ID for turnitin.com will be given out. Register by 9-1-12 (this is a homework grade).
Due Tuesday 9-4-12:
Type (double space) a story about an event from your summer vacation. Use ALL OF THE WORDS FROM VOCABULARY BOOK LESSON 1. Underline or highlight the words as you use them. Your story should be 200-250 words. Use Times New Roman font. (Print and bring to class). Write the number of words used...be honest.
Vocabulary Quiz Lesson 1 on Friday 9-7-12
Bring in $12.00 for Scholastic Upfront and Kleenex box by Monday 9-10-12

Block Days ... Week One
ON block day we'll do introductions. Everyone will tell the class about a favorite book and why it is a favorite. We'll also discuss The Library Of Congress exhibit BOOKS THAT SHAPED AMERICA.
I'll collect signed syllabus forms and we'll continue to discuss the syllabus and class procedures.

Welcome to ENGLISH 2 with Ms. MacVay!
I look forward to working with you this year. This week we'll explore class procedures AS well as discuss the summer reading.
Please bring your LITERATURE, VOCABULARY, GRAMMAR, AND SUMMER READING BOOKS TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY.
When we complete the summer reading unit, I'll let you know it is time to bring the next novel to class. In My Hands and Maus I and Maus II will be our next "unit".
Homework for tonight:
BOOKMARK and JOIN the blog ... if you have not already!
BOOKMARK the class website (found on blog too)
Read and sign (your parents need to sign also) the syllabus. Return signature portion.
Obtain the necessary supplies for class.
